Cordially invited to the American Theatre Wing Gala

The American Theatre Wing gala?!

I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest to this year’s gala under the theme, “Celebrating Women in Theatre.” I got all dolled up and had a wonderful night chit chatting with friends of new and old. During the presentation, a recognition moment came where they asked all women working in theatre to stand for applause. I watched as all of the Tony nominated directors and actors stood, all of the famous designers and producers, a room filled with passion and talent. I clapped. It was in that moment, when the Broadway actors around me, motioned for me to stand as well. I couldn’t believe it. Who am I compared to these people? No one! But as they gestured again, ”Come on Megan!” I realized that I am someone. Sure, I’m young and my resume is light, but if I’m sat at this table, in this room, surrounded by these people, I must be doing something right, so I stood. The applause finally died down and as we all returned to our seats, I felt tears swell in my eyes. What a beautiful moment. I couldn’t believ.. Then I was jolted back to reality as a waiter dropped a whole potato on my lap. A truly Megan moment!
