What do you mean I was invited to the TONY AWARDS?!

I can’t believe I get to say that.

This past June, I was honored to attend the 76th annual Tony Awards as part of team Art Lab. When our car pulled up, I was completely and utterly stunned by the sea of people lining the streets leading up to the VIP entrance. Usually I’m over there with them. Not even. Usually i’m at home watching it on TV with a bowl of popcorn in hand.

As we stepped out of the car, lights started flashing and people cheered from across the street. “Why are they cheering?” “For us doll!” Talk about total shock. I looked at the path ahead of us, a very long pink carpet, with dozens of photographers waving their hands, snapping photos as fast as they could. Between poses and laughter, we bumped into familiar faces, reuniting with friends, other producers, and a lot of Broadway Interludes Alum. It felt like Prom night at Broadway High. Aside from the extreme heat in the theatre, baby’s first Tony’s will live on as a favorite New York night. The only thing that could have made it better was a big bowl of popcorn and a better AC system.
