FOREVER MISCAST: A Night with Megan Chacalos

A momentous night filled with song and story!

The idea of the show was first born when a visit to Wheeling had me both flustered and flattered by the attention I received from the community. After a few conversations, I picked up on a reoccurring theme. The city of Wheeling was happy to support me from afar, but they really wished to see me perform live.

That’s easy enough, let’s do it.

I partnered with Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre and pitched the show to the man in charge, Tim Thompson. Tim, who had previously directed me in a show, was more than thrilled to host myself and my friends for a weekend of tom foolery and theatrical hijinks..

Throughout the show, personal stories and experiences were weaved between songs. Here was a girl who played maids, nannies, and spoons; but; quickly climbed the New York theatre ladder by latching onto the idea of, “Stop Asking Permission.” It was through this idea that I gained confidence and wanted to encourage others to do the same.

This show was exciting and challenging for two reasons: The first being that it was my first time headlining. The second being that it was my first time self producing. For the first time ever, I found myself truly in the drivers seat, which is ironic since I don’t have a license. This was my show, and I could do whatever I wanted. So, I invited my friends.

I was joined by some of my closest and most talented pals as we sang a lot of Sondheim. In no particular order: Jake Bryan Guthrie, Casey Johnson, Heidi Tolson, Jess Kirschner, Chandler Reid Evans, Taylor Andrews, Abby Young & Cal Chacalos.

The show was a great success. The audiences roared with both cheers and laughter and ended the night with a standing ovation. After looking at the box office records, we’ve already been invited back next year for another, “Night with Megan Chacalos” concert.

I can’t wait to announce next year’s theme! I hope to see you there!
